Without webCoRE I would of outgrown SmartThings as without this app I wouldn’t be able to do most of what I do with SmartThings, The App is so powerful and that good the creator was recently hired by SmartThings. What is webCoRE?
The web Community’s own Rule Engine (or for short, webCoRE) is a general rule engine for SmartThings. It works by allowing users to create scripts that are interpreted and executed by the SmartThings SmartApp, allowing for complex decisions.
Once you have installed and setup webCoRE your be able to create your first script which is called a piston in webCoRE. Below is an example of a piston you can even import it into yours with the import code “ws820” this is simple but without webCoRE this wouldn’t be possible.
This piston turns a one button device in SmartThings into a button that can do 4 things, something different with each button press. This was made for a client that didn’t want to spend a huge amount of money on a device with 4 or more buttons so instead went for a cheap Xiaomi Aqara button. This was set up to change a Phillips Hue Lightstrip which was installed behind his telly, it cycles through the colours Blue, White, Red and Green. This could be modified to have less or more cycle options.
I have around 45 pistons now controlling lights, buttons, presence, heating & my cinema. I don’t use any other App to do automation its all done in webCoRE. I will be posting more of my pistons here
